Femstrual 500mg Tablets Tranexamic Acid Femstrual can be used for the reduction of heavy menstrual bleeding. Heavy periods can have a major impact on many women's lives (for example due to worries over the amount of blood lost or feeling self-conscious) and it can also affect their social and work commitments. When a woman has a period, her body produces clots during menstruation to stem the bleeding, but these sometimes dissolve leading to heavier periods. Femstrual contains 500mg of tranexamic acid within each tablet. Tranexamic acid is an anti-fibrinolytic drug which stops clots breaking down and by doing so, reduces the amount of blood lost. Tranexamic acid has been used on prescription to control heavy menstrual bleeding since 1972, however it is now available over-the-counterand online.Femstrual can be used by women whoAre aged between 18 & 45 yearsHave heavy menstrual flow over several cyclesHave a regular cycle of 21 to 25 days (a cycle that does not vary by more than three days each month.Important only use Femstrual if you have heavy and regular periodsYour periods are considered to be heavy if you experience the followingpassing large clots of blood have to change sanitary protection every two hours or more often have to use double sanitary protection, eg tampons and towels can't carry out your normal activities, such as working, doing sport or going out bleeding through to clothes and bedding; this is referred to as flooding fatigue, dizziness and paleness which are symptoms of anaemia. Femstrual is suitable for women aged between 18 and 45 who experience a heavy menstrual flow over several months and have a regular monthly cycle of between 21-35 days, with no more than a 3 day variance in their cycle. If using Femstrual 500mg Tablets, the recommended dosage is take 2 tablets 3 times daily, for up to 4 days. For heavy bleeding take 2 tablets 4 times daily for up to 4 days. Do not take more than 8 tablets each day. |
